    Advocacy Committee

This Committee's mandate is to identify issues impacting our business community and to evaluate issues identified by others. The Committee recommends advocacy issues, economic development strategies, and public policies to the Board of Directors. This Committee may survey the membership for their input on public policy issues and should liaise with other relevant organizations on issues of common concern. Strategies for follow up on issues garnered from research and studies provided by the OCC, CCC and the Town of Saugeen Shores is also this committee's duty. Excellent understanding of local issues, a well-established network, and ability to think critically and work collaboratively are skills required for success on this committee.

The Finance Committee is responsible to assist the Board in fulfilling its obligations and oversight responsibilities relating to financial planning, the audit process, financial reporting, the system of corporate controls and risk management. Individuals with a background in human resources, law, accounting and professional experience in nonprofit auditing and consulting would be best suited for this committee. This is a professional committee composed of between three and five members, none of whom have any direct or indirect association with each other or other directors which could, in the view of the Board, reasonably interfere with the exercise of the member's independent judgment. The Chamber's Executive Director recruits for this committee and presents quarterly reports to the board of directors.
