  • What is the Chamber Bucks program?

    Shopping local helps multiple businesses in our community to grow. Locally spent money stays in our community through supporting employment, local business to business transactions and through charitable giving. The Chamber Bucks program is designed to help keep shopping dollars in Saugeen Shores through gift certificates that can be used at numerous participating local businesses. 

    Chamber Bucks are perfect for that hard to buy for person, prize for a draw, or employee bonus! 

    How does it work?

    Chamber Bucks gift certificates can be purchased at the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce. Denominations of $25, $50, and $100 are available. The gift certificate can then be redeemed at any participating Saugeen Shores Chamber business (see list link on right). Please note that certain items, like alcohol,  may not be purchased using the Chamber Bucks gift certificate. Ask the participating business if any restrictions apply to using Chamber Bucks at their location. Although Chamber Bucks do not expire, recipients of the Chamber Bucks gift certificate are encouraged to use it within one calendar year of its issue date. 

    When a business receives a Chamber Bucks gift certificate, they treat it like cash and provide their customer with change from their purchase if needed. The business then returns the Chamber Bucks gift certificate to the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce. The SSCC will process the Chamber Bucks and issue a cheque reimbursing the business for the full amount of the gift certificate. Please note, processing and preparing a cheque takes time. Reimbursement will not be immediately available to the business turning in the gift certificate, but will be completed in a timely manner. Participating business owners are encouraged to train their staff about the Chamber Bucks program to ensure a seamless experience for their customers.

    How can I be sure a gift certificate is authentic?

    Each certificate will feature a serial number, employee authorization signature, and SSCC stamp on the back. If you are concerned about the authenticity of the Chamber Bucks certificate being used at your business please call 519-389-1881 for verification. 

    Can I purchase a custom denomination?

    We currently offer certificates in $25, $50, and $100 amounts. However, if you are seeking a large number of smaller denomination gift certificates the SSCC may consider it. Contact the SSCC with your proposal. 

    Why is the program limited to SSCC member businesses?

    There are a variety of benefits and programs that are only available to SSCC members -- this program is one of them. If you would like to learn more about membership benefits contact us at info@saugeenshoreschamber.ca.

    What kind of payment does the SSCC accept?

    The SSCC accepts cash, cheque, credit card, or e-transfer. At this time, the SSCC is unable to process debit card payments. 

    How do I sign my business up to participate?
